Boost Mobile Is Trialing Multi-Month Discount Plans
Last week I wrote about how Boost Mobile has become a brand synonymous with change. Well, it looks like another change could be coming to Boost Mobile as it is trialing multi-month discount plans. The plans are only available to a very limited audience. Boost Mobile's $15/month 2GB plan for new bring your own device customers is being offered through Stack Social with multi-month discounts. A total of 3-discount multi-month plan options are available and described below.
3-months - $30, average cost of $10/month
6-months - $50, average cost of $8.33/month
12-months - $95, average cost of $7.92/month
An additional 5% in savings can be had by applying the code BM5JULY at checkout. The code is likely to expire July 31. The multi-month plans come with a free SIM card kit and free shipping.
That's a pretty steep discount compared to Boost's $15 monthly plan rate. Annual plan customers save just about 50% off versus paying for the plan by the month. The plan still uses T-Mobile's network for coverage, although that may change down the road. DISH has partnered with AT&T to provide MVNO service to customers on Boost Mobile and its other brands.
Boost Mobile's 2GB plan also includes unlimited talk and text and all the data can be used for mobile hotspot if the customer so chooses. Unfortunately, the plan's data is hard-capped. So subscribers that use up all their data in a billing cycle will be cut off. There is no unlimited 2G or "slow" data with the plan. Customers who run out of data can elect to add top-up data to their plan priced at $5 for an additional 1GB of high-speed data or $10 for 2GB.
Those who signup for one of the discount plans will receive an ePIN code to use to activate their plan. The code must be redeemed within 30 days of purchase.
Multi-month discount plans have largely been made popular thanks to the success of Mint Mobile. Other brands like Red Pocket Mobile, Unreal Mobile, and even AT&T Prepaid offer them as a way to offer cheaper rates to their customers while also locking in revenue and the customer for an extended period of time.
